The Future of Hell

I’ve been getting a lot of comments lately about whether or not the series will continue. I figure I owe you an explanation.

My YouTube account had been getting a lot of attention from Toei (which resulted in me having to take down a bunch of stuff.) I decided to stay on the down low and keep off their radar for the time being.

I’m like on my second strike is the thing. If Toei flags another video, they’ll delete my account.  I decided it’d be better to play it safe and preserve the Hell goodness that I’ve already made then to tempt the fates any further and have the whole thing disappear.

Meanwhile, I’ve also been busy with other writing. Sailor Moon Hell was just a fun thing I was doing to kill time– but I’ve got little time to kill anymore.  My aspirations are in comic books and other fictional works– not fan videos. Don’t get me wrong, I love to do them and I’m glad so many people enjoy them, but it’s not as satisfying as making my own stuff.

If you liked my style in Sailor Moon Hell, check out some of my other projects. I’ve got them all collected at my writing site – K is for Komics.

I don’t like making definite statements about Sailor Moon Hell, because we all know Usagi has a habit of resurrecting herself over and over again. But I do think that I’m finished for the foreseeable future.  I may come back to it one day out of boredom– in that case, you’ll all be the first to know about it.

But for now– consider the world of Sailor Moon Hell once again exploded.

We’re Not Dead Yet! New Developments for Episode 4!

Hey Hellions!

Sorry things have been a little dusty around Sailor Moon Hell lately. I’ve gotten back to work on the series recently and hope to have good things coming your way soon!

The last we spoke, I said I’d be coming your way with “Sailor Moon Hell: The Musical” and that is definitely on my plate, but things got a little tricky. I like to keep the episode under 20 minutes and there was WAY too much good stuff to limit the episode to just 20 minutes. So instead, “Sailor Moon Hell: The Musical” will be a full-length special.

In the meantime, that clears the way for more Sailor Moon Hell & Friends Episodes!

Sailor Moon Hell & Friends Episode 4 Coming Soon

“Episode 4: It’s Always Sunny in Tokyo” will be a break from the usual parody stuff and just focuses on giving you guys what you want… insanity. In the episode, “Sweet Rei” goes for her musical career and the results are fiery to say the least.

Cause of all the Mars Fire.

So for those of you jonesing for another Rei-centric episode… tune in soon! The rest of you can just shut up and like it.

Be Here Tomorrow for Sailor Moon Hell & Friends Episode 3

Hey you guys!

No,  I’m not dead. I’m very much an alive person right now.  And I have a gift for you! But you have to wait until tomorrow to open it!

What is it? Oh just a little thing I like to call Sailor Moon Hell & Friends: Episode 3 – 28 Blunts Later!

BE HERE!

Behind the Scenes: The Process with BONUS Episode 3 Trailer

It’s been a long time my little Hellions, I know, I know. Like I said before, I’m focusing on getting this episode of Sailor Moon Hell & Friends done soon because launching the website set me back a bit. I’m pleased to say I’ve gotten half the episode done in it’s entirety, so expect it soon!

Today I figured I’d give you guys a behind the scenes look at what it’s like to actually MAKE one of these  episodes.  In the early days, I just stumbled around with video and music until something looked good and then rendered and called it a day. However years of experience have taught me to develop a method to this madness.

The Hell process can be broken down to a few basic steps.

  1. Brainstorming: Coming up with an idea,  finding the footage I need
  2. Editing: Laying down all of the clips in order, cutting out parts I don’t need and editing accordingly.
  3. Sound: Once the edits are done, I lay down any music or sounds, just in case further editing is required.
  4. Opening Credits: The opening credits are usually handled somewhere between the editing and sound stages.
  5. Subtitles: Making the Lolz!
  6. Commercials: These usually go in between the first and second chunk of the episode.
  7. Trailer: I put up the preview for next episode once I have the first half complete.
  8. End Credits: The last step is to make the ending credits, which are usually just the music credits.
  9. Render and Upload: Pretty self explanatory!

I do both halves of the episode as separate files to make it easier to upload to Youtube. Since the videos have to be under ten minutes, I usually plan for the episodes to be under twenty, so that viewers only have to watch two parts to any given episode.

I have one half of the episode absolutely done, which means it’s TIME FOR A TRAILER! Enjoy!

Sorry for the Delay, Have a Sneak Preview!

Hey guys!

Boy did I drop the ball on Teufel Week, am I right? It’s almost fitting seeing as how I dropped the ball on the entire series as it were.

Although, I do have my reasons. See, as much as I love doing Sailor Moon Hell it doesn’t exactly pay the bills, you know? And when work constraints started to eat up all my time, I decided I’d rather use what little Hell time I could set aside to work on the actual episodes.

Because, here’s the thing, in all of the hooplah in setting up the site and giving you heathens some stuff to look at, I’ve been falling behind on the series that brought you all here in the first place.

My bad!

So I’m happy to say I’ve gotten some tremendous leg work done on Sailor Moon Hell & Friends Episode 3: 28 Blunts Later. And since I’ve been a deadbeat and all, I thought I’d give you website visitors a special SNEAK PEEK at the next episode!

Now, of course SPOILERS AHOY matey! This is the first few minutes of the next episode, so if you want to be surprised, you best wait until I finish the whole darn thing. Also, it’s important to note that what is shown is not the finished product. I always go back and do little changes here and there before comitting to rendering an episode, so this will seem a little rougher around the edges than usual.

Case in point, for some reason when rendered, a phantom image of the girls and Luna sitting around a table shows up. You can’t miss it because it’s so out of place. That kind of stuff is what I usually edit out before publishing. However, as this is an ultra rare exclusive behind the scenes type look, you’re just going to have to deal.

So without further adieu… the first couple of minutes of the next episode!

Acid Flashback: Wir haben Sailor Moon Teufel Episode Eine!

Guten tag!

Let’s start our German lesson for today. The first word we’re going to learn is “Eine” which is the German word for “one.” It’s a fitting word as we’re going to take a look at the very first episode of Sailor Moon Teufel the German language spin-off of Sailor Moon Hell.

Uranus is a horndog

Haruka asks the question everybody was thinking

I don’t need to tell you I ran out of footage for awhile. I’ve told you this A BILLION TIMES. Although this never deterred me from wanting to continue the series in some fashion or another.  I tried my hand at a fandub instead, in the now-aborted Sailor Moon Hell Saga. This was a nightmare scenario though. I had all of these characters, barely any voice actors and I was trying to do the whole thing with Windows Movie Maker.

I pulled the plug on Saga and thought that was that.  I needed raw footage, but it had to be in a different language and without subtitles if I was ever going to do another fansub. I was tossed a bone in the form of a German Dub of Sailor Moon Stars that was high quality and devoid of subtitles.

The Outer Whores Are Older

New Sailor Whores! Same tired jokes.

I was actually a little excited to be working with Sailor Moon Stars footage because there was a crapton of new characters to use. The Outer Senshi never showed up in the live-action Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon so I never got to use them in any capacity.

I started at the very beginning of the Sailor Moon Stars footage because the first episode was a big re-introduction to the Outer Senshi characters.  I figured that would make for a good starting off point to bring these characters into the Hell universe.  I was pretty much shoehorned into using the first storyarch of Sailor Moon Stars in its entirity because it set up everything needed to get into the season proper. Unfortunately, the first story arch is finishing up the bullshit leftover from the previous season, so I had my work cut out for me.

Lolcat Attack

O RLY?

Thankfully the anime didn’t detract from the personalities I had already established for the main characters. Anime Usagi is just as ridiculous as the live-action version, and vice versa. The only real change I made to the old cast was making Luna and Artemis a couple of Lolcats. I was at the height of my Lolcat obsession at the time, but seriously I think it’s still pretty funny.  The German voices used for the cats help the Lolcat speak sound more genuine.

The rest of the cast introduced into this episode fell into place quite nicely. Uranus and Neptune have about a thousand built-in lesbian and incest jokes without my interferance, so adapting them took little effort. I added the bit about Michiru not being able to conceive kids as an afterthought, but it kind of became a running theme with her character.

Ugly Baby

Babies get no respect

Pluto and Saturn were a little harder to place because they’re both kind of strange characters.  Especially because Hotaru starts out as a baby in these episodes.  I took the baby aspect and ran with in, making Hotaru be Setsuna’s child that she didn’t want anymore. The rest of Setsuna’s character I filled in with references to the fact that Pluto is no longer considered a planet.  I know, that’s kind of an obvious joke to make, and I don’t care either.

Return of the Lolz

Just like Jesus she's back!

The first episode is sort of a blur to me because I finished it all up in a big go.  I was really excited to get started on the series and the new characters gave me the gumption to get at it. The first episode is severely streamlined and really is only made up of a few couple scenes. This is because I wanted to hurry the plot along. The Nehelenia story arc was six episodes in the original version. I wanted to cut it down to four (and even this felt like way too long to linger on a villain who is never seen again.)

Streamlining was the name of the game with this series. Even the openings and endings I wanted to have a slight uniform feel to. It was my intention to keep all of the episodes around the same length, which was to say I didn’t want any episode to be over 20 minutes. This was because Youtube cuts you off at 10 minutes and I didn’t want any episodes to requires a viewer to load more than two videos. I think it’s hard enough to direct viewers who stumble upon the video to the other half as it is. I always have way more hits on one half of an episode than the other. And for some reason, it’s not always the first half either.

Stay tuned as we take a look at the rest of Teufel this week. Oh and I MAY have another web exclusive for you guys!

Oh yeah and I’ll just leave this here.

Teufel Character Profiles Now Up!

Sailor Useless Moon - Cheeba UserGood morning my little Hellions!

As we continue Teufel week, let me direct you to the CHARACTERS page which has been recently updated to include the characters from Sailor Moon Teufel. From Sailor Useless Moon to Sailor Plutoid, the whole gang is here.  Check it out, or Cheeba-User will totally… I dunno.. do nothing really.

We SO have a Facebook

I SO have a FacebookBack in the day, it was all about Myspace for Emo Mercury. However, as a dude once said “The times they are a changing.”

And so, these days, Emo Mercury and the rest of the Sailor Moon Hell gang are up on Facebook. That actually sounds cooler than it really is. The characters themselves aren’t actually on there, it’s just me being a loser.

However,  add us as a fan on Facebook and you’ll be able to see when Sailor Moon Hell updates right from your news feed!

Become a fan today! Do it or Ami will slit her wrists (she’s serious this time.)

Sailor Moon Teufel Available for Download!

Once upon a time, I ran out of usable footage to make Sailor Moon Hell with so I went ahead and created a brand new series. I resorted to using a German language dub I found online.

The result was called Sailor Moon Teufel as “teufel” is the German word for the devil.  Why not use the German word for “Hell” you ask? Well, that would be “hölle” and I didn’t want to have to do the umlaut all of the time. Plus, it’s such  a better word. DER TEUFEL! He’ll getcha for sure.

This week is Teufel Week! And to kick it off, all of Sailor Moon Teufel is now available to download! Sweet!

Be back here as we do some acid flashbacks and look at how Teufel came to be. Oh, and we’ll have some character biographies up as well! All in all, a very German week, and it’s not even Oktoberfest!
